An interview with Drowning manager Danny Kreutzfeldt has been done by the “blastbeats meets pop culture”-blog Dreams Of Conciousness.
The questions were actually pretty good, so some effort was put into the answers as well. The interview gives some backgroud info on the motivations for starting and running Drowning, thoughts on online music, future plans as well as some top 5 drone & doom album recommendations from Danny Kreutzfeldt.
The music video for the heavy gloomy doom metal track As The World Burned by SOL has been released. The track is taken from the full-length album And the mouth of time is open, which is out now as a free download on Drowning.
The music video is made by Emil Brahe of SOL himself simply by treating and editting clips from the 1930 Russian film Zemlya (Earth) by Aleksandr Dovzhenko. The dark archaic otherworldly imagery supplements the intense dystopic music into a mesmerizing and somewhat poetic blend well worth 5 mins and 3 secs of your time.
Apart from being the main creative force behind SOL, Emil Brahe is also an independent film maker, music video director and documentarist. Some of his work is available through Afgrund Film.

Before the end of 2013, the Danish doom metal band SOL will release a full-length album as free download on Drowning.
The album will be titled “And The Mouth Of Time Is Open” and consist of 5 tracks with a total length of 47 mins. It features SOL-founder Emil Brahe on vocals, guitar, bass, drums, organ, synth and effects. Trúa of Blóðtrú on vocals, guitar, bass, drums, organ and piano. Andreas Hansn of Singvogel on guitar.
SOL is a Danish doom metal band started by Emil Brahe in the early 00′s. He debuted in 2007 on Ván Records with the crushing funeral/death doom album “Let There Be A Massacre” and has since released numerous albums in a variety of styles on different labels. Often with a varying cast of collaborators.
While most SOL works have a common denominator in themes of fear, esotericism and destruction, they differ in the form they are presented in: From acoustic drones over dark reed organ atmospherics and occult folk music to the heavy crushing doom metal sound he somehow always returns to and invigorates with his open approach to dark musical expression.
This will also be apparent on “And The Mouth Of Time Is Open”, which will be the second SOL album and third SOL release on Drowning. In 2012, SOL was featured on the Drowning compilation Total Drowning with the track “Viljen Til Kamp”.
In 2011, SOL released the mini-album Black Cloud Of Becoming as cassette on Golem Tapes and as free download on Drowning. It featured dense reed organ atmospherics, crushing death doom metal as well this twanging doom metal piece in the style of Earth.
