Drone doom netlabel. Free drone & doom metal downloads.

Sun Blind Me has been well received

One month ago Drowning released Nonsun – Sun Blind Me as free download along with Breathe Plastic Records simultaneously releasing it on tape.

During this month Sun Blind Me has been downloaded 583 times in it’s 89.9 MB entirety. This makes it the second best 1st month for a drownload, only surpassed by Aidan Baker & A-Sun Amissa – Scarpe Sensée earlier this year.

Traffic and mentions for Sun Blind Me has been received on a long list of platforms, forums and blogs. Some of the blogs have gone through the effort of writing a review.

Here are some extracts of selected reviews:

“Nonsun have a very big future ahead of them indeed. Their blend of Drone/Sludge/Doom/Post-Metal are some of the heaviest riffs I have heard this year.” – Sludgelord

“The four tracks are like organic entities, stretched out and contorted to their own logical conclusions. This is as it should be, music played from the heart, constantly surprising and taking the listener on a trip. Highly recommended.” – Destructive Music

“The autumnal hymns and tenebrous canticles are a beautiful soundtrack to the fall, and I think fans of Om and Earth should be pleased. 8/10” – Goul’s Crypt

“It reminds me of Winter in a way but, within the brushstrokes of early doom lies something chillingly modern. … I would jump on the limited edition cassette if I were you.” – Ripple Effect

“Crushing tones of doomed out sludge and droned atmospheres of wondrous heaviness. Highly Recommended!” – Archivhate

– Welcome To The Void

On top of this a few interviews were also conducted with Nonsun. One by Breathe Plastic prior to the release and one subsequently by Florida-based 850 Music.

Sun Blind Me has also been add of the week on Obelisk Radio, was featured on the weekly radio show Mari’s Cauldron and seems to have been played on the independent radio station WFMU.

It’ll be interesting to see how the coming months develop for Sun Blind Me, but until then it is nice to see talent getting recognized. Congrats to the guys in Nonsun.
